Calyx appoints new CFO | FRS links up with Accenture

Software security firm ESET claims that 10.3 percent of malware detections made last month were identified as files containing information on programs to be run automatically when removable media such as USB keys were inserted into a PC. According to ESET, 'INF/Autorun', a generic identification for malware that tries to use the autorun.inf file as a way of compromising a computer, retained its number one spot and increased its share of detected malware during March. Adware featured prominently in the top 10 detected threats in March, with variations of the pernicious Virtumonde steadfastly refusing to budge.

Nortel is introducing an open source, SIP-centric unified communications solution for small and medium businesses that comes with presence/instant messaging, conferencing, unified messaging and other advanced applications. The Nortel Software Communication System (SCS) 500 works across different networks and devices and is available from this month.

Irish software firm Financial Risk Solutions (FRS) has installed Invest|ProT for Accenture Insurance Services in Milan. The fund administration platform will allow Accenture to manage unitised funds efficiently and securely for its clients. Invest|ProT is an investment administration system is specifically designed for life assurance companies. It enables financial institutions to manage collective funds, personalised portfolio bonds and self-invested pensions.

IT services firm Calyx has appointed Nick Williams as chief financial officer for the group. Williams is a qualified chartered accountant who was most recently CFO of Singapore-based lens manufacturer Clearlab International. Prior to that he worked with flow control group Truflo International and has held a number of senior finance roles with Biocompatibles International plc.

3Com Corporation has become the leading provider for enterprise stackable switch ports and router units in China and maintained the number 2 market share position worldwide in total ethernet switching port shipments, enterprise router units and SMB switching, according to IDC figures. The company is also number one in terms of IP storage in the region through its China-based H3C operations. Worldwide, the company is the second-biggest manufacturer in total ethernet switching port shipments, enterprise router units, and (SMB) switching.
